Mark your calendars! The Farming Concrete team has been working busily behind the scenes to get ready for 2011, a brand new gardening season.
Come learn how to keep records and estimate your garden’s yield at our upcoming workshops:
- March 12: “Citizen Science: Growing Greener Communities through Research and Action” at Making Brooklyn Bloom, Brooklyn Botanic Garden (morning workshop)
- March 26: “Garden Planning and Record Keeping with Farming Concrete” at the New York Botanical Garden, Harding Lab
- March 27: 1-3pm “Street Trees and Urban Food: Measuring, Mapping, and Managing the Environment with Citizen Scientists” at Pratt University, Higgins Hall North 406
- April 2: “How much food grows in your garden?” at GreenThumb’s GrowTogether, Hostos Community College
- April 9: “Direct Action for Food & Environmental Justice Through Open Data/Mapping” at the Anarchist Bookfair, 12:45-2:15
It’s simple and doesn’t cost a dime. Sign up to weigh your harvest and/or to count all the edible plants in your garden. We will use this information to estimate how much food is grown across our city.
